How to find a holistic vet in your area

by DePaolo Equine Concepts

People often call our office asking for a recommendation of a holistic veterinarian in their area.  We direct them to the AHVMA (American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association) website.  Often times a vet will not do a consultation over the phone but you can always call their office and ask about the basic principles and philosophies of that particular vet.  Occasionally a holistic vet will consult over the phone with your primary veterinarian but often times the owner ends up more confused and frustrated by the difference in opinions between the holistic vet and more traditional vet.

The most important thing to remember is to do what you feel comfortable with and to never feel that you have to follow a particular vet’s protocol.  Educate yourself and gain as much knowledge as you can about your horse’s issues at hand.

The DePaolo Equine Concept’s Health Library has a great amount of information on vaccinations, horse nutrition, and common health issues such as equine ulcers and Cushings Syndrome.
