Christmas In The Cages was a roaring good time!
Yesterday I took my 4 yr old son to Christmas in the Cages at Rancho Las Lomas in Orange County, CA. I knew this beautiful private estate was frequently booked for posh weddings but I had no idea it was an animal sanctuary. Created by Jeannie Lawrence, inspired by her worldly travels and late husband, the beautiful grounds are sprinkled with fabulous Spanish influenced fountains and gardens. Native wildlife, such as bobcats and assorted birds of prey, as well as rare endangered animals from the various corners of the world are all nestled harmoniously at this Silverado Canyon estate.
Each year, Rancho Las Lomas hosts a fundraiser for local animal shelters called Christmas In The Cages where they wrap up delectable meat and bones and give the boxes to the tigers to open in front of a wide-eyed crowd. Santa makes an appearance for the kids. The taco man serves up street style tacos. Fun is had by all…Including Zambo (see below)!
