Dr. Mark is making the rounds at regionals

by DePaolo Equine Concepts

Horse season is in full swing!  Dr. Mark has been traveling the country to help horses show better by administering Acupuncture and Chiropractic treatments.  Two weeks ago Dr. Mark finished up a busy show at the Region 9 Arabian Show in Fort Worth, TX.  Then he travelled to Region 4 in Nampa, ID.  Now he is busy working away at Region 14 at the famed Kentucky Horse Park.  Finally, he will wrap up his regionals with Region 5 in Monroe, WA from August 4th-11th.  He still has a few openings for treatments while in Monroe so if you would like to book an appointment, please call his scheduling line at (503) 819-5151.

There are so many things you can do at a show to help your horse be more comfortable and show better! Two of Dr. Mark’s favorite show tips are below.

  1. Treat your horse with an Omeprazole product to ease ulcer pain and discomfort. Many horses suffer from ulcers especially during stressful situations such as hauling and competition. Omeprazole can take up to 5 days to reach the full effect so it is important to start the treatment before you leave for the show.
  2. To ease body soreness, Dr. Mark always recommends that you feed your horse one to two tablespoons of baking soda twice a day to neutralize lactic acid. This is especially important at a show where the footing conditions can be bad, the bedding in the stalls can be thin and your horse is most likely being overworked.

Happy showing this summer!!!
