Help for the animals in the Colorado Springs Fire
Hundreds of homes have been destroyed in the Colorado Springs fire with this fire and several others currently still burning out of control. Immediately we think of the horses, dogs, cats and other pets that have been abandoned and are in need of shelter, food and medical care. We wanted to give you some information on how you can help.
The North Shore Animal League and Mill Dog Rescue have teamed up to set up mobile rescue units with temporary shelter, food and medicine to help those pets that have been evacuated from their homes. They will also be moving abandoned pets to their headquarters in New York to put up for adoption. To donate, please visit their website.
The North Shore Animal League is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. They help during natural disasters but year round they are still saving pets’ lives by rescuing them from breeding mills and backyard breeders so we urge you to support this great cause.
Whether your pet is a mouse or a horse, having a pet-friendly first aid kit is essential to keep in your car so it is ready to go because natural disasters seldom give warning. For our post on disaster preparedness, please click here.
