Supplements For Horses With Endocrine Issues

by DePaolo Equine Concepts

Proper diet has an immense effect on maintaining a healthy endocrine system.  Cushings, Pre-Cushings, Hypothyroidism, Endocrine Syndrome and Insulin Resistance all have one thing in common: pituitary gland dysfunction. Most of these diseases are brought about by stress like competitions, trailering, sweet feeds, stalling, medicating, vaccinating, and daily dewormers.

Chaste-Tree-Berry-PowderDr. DePaolo recommends Chaste Tree Berry Powder for endocrine support or Harmony when Chaste Tree alone is not enough.  Chaste Tree Berry Powder nutritionally supports the normal functioning of the pituitary gland.  With this herbal supplement, the pituitary is allowed to thrive and perform properly by naturally helping to maintain normal dopamine levels in the blood and supporting regulation of both the pituitary and adrenal glands.  Accurate dopamine levels also normalize prolactin to balance hormones in the body.

Harmony_grandeHarmony™ is formulated to promote healthy body function in horses dealing with the negative side effects associated with Endocrine, Metabolic, and Cushing Syndromes, as well as Insulin Resistance and Hypothyroidism. These active ingredients combine many key nutraceuticals which help maintain normal blood sugar and hormone levels.

Along with Chaste Tree Berry Powder, cinnamon powder is used to stabilize blood sugar and lower insulin levels to ensure a normal metabolism.  Chromium helps to move blood sugar from the bloodstream into the cells to be used as energy and to turn fats, carbohydrates, and proteins into energy.  Wild Yam Root Powder is included to encourage normalization of the levels of progesterone in the blood stream.  L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid used by the body to help stimulate serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a “feel good” hormone that the body produces naturally to help improve one’s mood. Like Tryptophan, Tyrosine is an amino acid which encourages an even temperament. Magnesium is one of the electrolytes needed for muscle function and is also considered a calming mineral by veterinarians.

Hundreds of horses with endocrine disorders have been tested with Horse Hair Analysis. 85% of these horses are deficient in nutritional minerals. A significant percentage also have a toxic metal present in their body, such as arsenic or lead, that must be chelated from the body in order for it regain health.

Horse Hair Analysis is an easy 4 step process created by Dr. DePaolo.  After sending in a pencil width section of mane hair, you will receive a thorough 15-page report explaining how each mineral/metal affects the body along with an analysis consultation over the phone with Dr. DePaolo.  A customized supplement recommendation will be offered based on the lab findings. This HHA Personal Supplement™ will contain effective ingredients to assist your horse in getting healthy.

I just ordered this from you for my horse, how well does it work if you can only give it once a day?

    • Hi Tammy,
It is best to give our supplements twice a day so it stays in the system longer but we have still seen great results at facilities that can only feed supplements once daily.
      Thank you!
