Hello Dolly!

by DePaolo Equine Concepts

Last Friday night the DePaolo Equine office received a special treat from the boss!  VIP tickets to Dolly Parton at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.  We started with a yummy dinner at El Fenix and then rushed over to the concert hall to enjoy over two hours of Dolly.

She sang all of her hits, some new songs and told wonderful stories about growing up in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.  One of 12 kids, she sure had some great tales to tell.  At 70 years young, Dolly played an acoustic guitar, harpsichord, banjo, recorder, saxophone, harmonica, electric guitar and a piano during her two set show.  She had two costume changes both adorned with sequins, rhinestones and fringe in true Dolly fashion.

  10. 9 to 5
  11. I will Always Love You
  12. Farther Along

I thought a little clip of 9 to 5 was appropriate since we left the office early on Friday for the concert and didn’t in fact work 9 to 5.  My favorite quote of the night was, “I need your money.  It takes a lot to look this cheap!” -Dolly Parton.  She’s not only a talented singer but a great story teller, funny, charming, witty and just a good human being.

The Dollywood Foundation is donating to the victims of the recent Tennessee fires.  The My People Fund provides $1000 each month for up to six months to Sevier County families who lost their homes in the wildfires.  Dolly Parton also created the Imagination Library over a decade ago which mails books directly to the homes of under privileged children all over the world.  She really is a class act!
